I know! I know! It sounds crazy!

​Can you really put a wedding bouquet in the post? Will it survive? Will it be okay? These are the initial thoughts of most people when they first hear about the idea of posting their wedding bouquet. But I promise you, it's fine! So stop looking for a local bouquet preservation specialist (there probably isn't one - we are a rare breed!) and keep reading to find out more.

Every week I receive usually between 4 and 10 wedding bouquets in the post. My postmen know me, the sorting office know me, and very rarely do I encounter any problems.

As long as you follow my simple step-by-step picture instructions here, your bouquet will be just fine.  In fact, if you want one less stress in the run up to the big day I can even send you all the P&P equipment you need to make the whole job quick and effortless.

Here are the main things to remember:

1. Cut your stems before you put them in the box. Did you know that flower stems seal themselves up when out of water? So if you chop the very bottom off then they will be able to drink much better in transit and reach me in much better condition. You only need to chop a centimetre. 

2. Put wet kitchen paper at the bottom of the stems. People often just wrap the paper around the sides but make sure the paper touches the cut ends. Otherwise, it's like you trying to drink through your ears! Also, do not try and put one of those florist-style cellophane wraps full of water in the box. If it tips, your box will disintegrate!

3. This is an important one... please use:
SPECIAL DELIVERY NEXT DAY BEFORE 1PM SERVICE.
There are a few different postal options you have and the post office staff may try to convince you to switch to one of them (Parcel Force: NO!! Before 9am Service: NO!! A normal courier: NO!!!) I won't bore you with the reasons why I hate these other options, just trust me - and it will actually be the cheapest option for you. Usually it costs £11. 

4. Just make sure your box isn't taller than 60cms or they won't let you use Special Delivery.

5. Don't forget to write your name on a note inside the box so I know who it's from!

So, that's really it. Most people take their bouquet to the post office a day or two after their wedding. If you're jetting off on honeymoon, it's a great job for a bridesmaid or mum. They can call me if they have any problems on the day.

I don't know about you but I'm getting more and more concerned about my environmental impact on the world. As a business owner, I think I have a responsibility to run my business in the most environmentally friendly way possible. Once those icebergs have melted, I don't want anyone pointing fingers in my direction. I'm pretty lucky that there isn't much waste in the actual preserving process but our main problem is packaging.

We make regular trips to the recycling centre with the mountains of cardboard boxes that arrive here containing bouquets each week. But I have been getting more and more bothered by the amount of bubble wrap we were using when we courier the finished bouquets back to our brides. 

So I have taken the decision to switch to biodegradable recycled bubble wrap. Yes, it's a thing!

It's not cheap and it's got a funny green tinge to it but I actually quite like that. So if your preserved bouquet arrives and you wonder why the bubble wrap looks a little green - it's because it IS green! In more ways than one.

It's just a small change for now and it might only save an ice cube rather than an iceberg, but at least we can say we are doing our bit!

You know when people say, "If I had a pound for every time someone said that to me then I'd be a millionaire"? Well Alan Sugar would have nothing on me if I could cash in on this one sentence that has been said to me countless times since I started preserving wedding bouquets...

There is something about your wedding flowers that holds such a special place in your heart. If you're anything like me, then those flowers will always have an extra sentimental value because they remind you of your wedding day. For me, it's purple hydrangeas. For my sister, its white gerberas. In fact, I could tell you what flowers most of my friends had in their wedding bouquets.

But what if you could keep the actual flowers from your bouquet?  

I can't tell you how sad it makes me when people tell me that they just watched their bouquet wither and die in the days after their wedding. My sister still hasn't forgiven herself for leaving hers in her hotel room the morning after the wedding.

I'm super excited to let you all know that we have now relocated to sunny Leeds. This move has been in the pipelines for a long time and now we have finally done it.
This is really exciting news for the business because it means I'm no longer working from my kitchen table. I now have a dedicated workshop room in my new house that I've kitted out properly. This will allow me to take a lot more orders every week as a result. I'm even looking at hiring staff. The lovely Danielle will be starting in a few weeks time and I'm meeting Claire next week so chat things through.

Most brides have some worries when it comes to having their bouquet preserved, so I thought I would try and address some of your worries.

1. I'm too far away to bring you the bouquet in person, can I really send it in the post?

Absolutely! And it's much less daunting than it sounds at first, I promise! I have full step-by-step instructions for packing up the bouquet on this link:

And if you are too busy to find a box or you think the day after the wedding is going to be a struggle then I can even send you a flat-packed P&P pack with everything you will need to send your bouquet to me quickly and easily. 

2. I'm going on honeymoon the next day. How can I get the bouquet to you?

You will be surprised how many favours you can pull in as a stressed-out bride. Just mention it to your mum/sister/maid of honour and I'm sure they will be happy to help you out. Who knows, they may even offer to contribute towards the cost as a wedding present. I can always make them a little thank you pressie to show how grateful you are.

3. What can I do to make the results as good as possible?

I do have a few tricks up my sleeve for reviving and rescuing elderly flowers but there are a few things you can do to help me out. Make sure your florist knows your flowers have to be super duper fresh (and why - so you don't look like a bridezilla). Try not to put your bouquet down on its side for too long during the day or the flowers on the edge will get bruised. Get someone to put the bouquet in water towards the end of the night - send a waiter to get a pint glass or a wine cooler with a few inches of water in and stash it in a safe place. Don't even think about putting it in a fridge or freezer. It's a bad idea! Indoors and out of direct sunlight is just fine. Get the bouquet to me as soon as humanly possible after the wedding! 

4. I really love the idea of bouquet preservation but I'm not sure I can afford it.

Pricing is very tricky for me as I don't want to make my products unaffordable for any bride but I have to consider my costs and my time. The good news is that I only require a £60 deposit to take your order. The rest is not due until the order is finished 2-3 months after the wedding. If you want to keep the cost down as much as possible then your best option is to go for a small blanket frame. Or keep checking back on my website and enter my competitions!

5. My wedding was yesterday. Have I left it too late?

It is with a huge amount of excitement that I can announce that Infinity Flowers was crowned the winner of the Wedding Enhancements category at the Four Counties Wedding Awards last week. 

This is a huge honour and means a great deal to me. The judging panel was made up of a very prestigious collection of wedding industry professionals and to know that they loved my work was  completely mind blowing.

It's strange. When I was a bride, I didn't realise there was such a thing as 'wedding fair season'. I got engaged, I heard about a wedding fair, I went along. I guess the timing just happened to be right. But if you are in the midst of wedding planning right now then don't let the autumn drift by without visiting at least one wedding fair. Now is the time!

I am simply in love with this recent order for Kate and Darren. The bouquet perfectly complemented the day and Kate was a truly beautiful bride. The bouquet had clearly taken some knocks on the day but it got to me in one piece. Whites are always tricky to preserve as they can go very yellow if you don't know what you're doing. Luckily, I had a few tricks up my sleeve to keep hold of those lovely hues. Kate and Darren chose the antique pine frame which I haven't used for a while but suits this bouquet perfectly. The relaxed and undone style of this bouquet was a dream to recreate and it came together in a flash. I know it is going to look simply stunning displayed in Kate and Darren's marital home.
